We’ve been waiting a long time for this one. After catching Joanna Arnow’s acerbic, deadpan masterpiece at a few festivals back in 2023, we knew we had to bring it to the Cube. Now, it’s finally here, and as an extra special treat we are thrilled to welcome Joanna Arnow herself, who will be joining us for a post-screening Q&A.

In her feature debut, Arnow stars as Ann, a 30-something New Yorker drifting through a life defined by a very specific kind of millennial malaise. Her days are split between a soul-crushing corporate job (literally tasked with creating her own obsolescence), a series of carefully orchestrated, though just as self-effacing, submissive sexual encounters and her relationship with her quarellsome Jewish family.

Written, directed, edited by, and starring Arnow, The Feeling That the Time for Doing Something Has Passed is an autobiographically-tinged take on the frustrations of a generation terrified of sincerely wanting anything and the elusive nature of happiness. It’s a film for anyone who has ever felt "stuck," delivered with a sardonic humor that is as uncomfortable as it is deeply, poignantly funny.

"A blisteringly funny take on millennial malaise" - Hannah Strong, Little White Lies

"Showcases a raw, intimate and more importantly extremely funny new talent" - Catherine Bray, Variety

"The do’s, don’t’s and don’t-even-go-there’s of contemporary dating have long been standard fodder for US indie cinema, but they rarely get dissected quite so tartly, or with such weirdly impassive wit, as in The Feeling That The Time For Doing Something Has Passed." - Jonathan Romney, Screen International

Doors open 30 minutes before advertised start time. All film screenings are ad-free and 18+ unless otherwise stated, and start with no more than a 10 min selection of trailers.

The Cube is a membership venue, please remember to bring your card. You can join on the door for £1.
