In 1950s New York, Marty Mauser (Timothée Chalamet), a street-smart shoe salesman and aspiring enfant terrible of table tennis, uses his talent, charisma and utter ruthlessness to pursue his dream of becoming a champion and a household name.
Josh Safdie's sports drama/black comedy/thriller film retains all of the pace and anxious energy of his collaborations with his brother Benny (Uncut Gems, Good Time), with strong supporting performances (including Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler Okonma, and Abel Ferrara), dreamy 35mm cinematography by Darius Khondji, and an intense, surging score from Daniel Lopatin.
