Fuck You Cupid

To mark V*lentine's D*y, we're screening Leos Carax's debut feature, one of the great cinematic anti-romances. How very Cube of us!
Boy Meets Girl features all the doomed romanticism that you'd expect from the director of The Lovers on the Bridge and Holy Motors. But perhaps the key thing that makes it unmissable is the Denis Lavant of it all. This was the breakout role of Carax's pug-faced muse, 15 years before he boogied his way into cinematic history at the end of Claire Denis' Beau Travail. As an aspiring filmmaker unable to get over being dumped, he is as weirdly sexy (and just plain weird) as he would prove to be over the coming decades. Plus, those hangdog chops never looked so good as in Jean-Yves Escoffier high-contrast b&w cinematography.
Come experience la douleur exquise with us before you go and do the mushy stuff.
Doors open 30 minutes before advertised start time. All film screenings are ad-free and 18+ unless otherwise stated, and start with no more than a 10 min selection of trailers.
The Cube is a membership venue, please remember to bring your card. You can join on the door for £1.
