            BROKEN CHANNEL
With Kaffe Matthews and Riz Maslen Live
(Sat 17th April /  8pm / £6 (£7 on door))
Noises of dissent and visions from the shattered lens of CCTV
andsurveillance...Tonight the Cube is proud to present a night where Broken Channel looks at the contemporary experience of surveillance, with live peformances from KAFFE MATHEWS (an exceptional live improvised sound artist) and RIZ MASLEN (formally known as the Neotropic who also woked with FSOL )
Plus films by COLDCUT (Ninja Tune) and OUTER BONGLLIA, ULTRA-RED (Fat-Cat / Ultra-Red.org) , and Battery Operated + Made. Ultra -Red are playful, direct and creatively subversive sound activists based in LA. This is one strong line- up.
Seeking to decode the transmissions and explore the disembodied aesthetics of individuals reduced to spectres flickering across screens, Broken Channel highlights how control mechanisms can be disrupted or refunctioned.
The following films will be screened:
-VIGILARE by Kaffe Matthews (Annette Works) and Riz Maslen (Big Orange Cat Music).
-THEE I IS OUR MIRROR v0.5 is a work-in-progress by Coldcut and OuterBongolia;
-IMPERIAL BEACH (Sistema de valor No. 8) by Los Angeles
artist/activistcollective Ultra-red (FatCat/mille plateaux);
-APROTIC by Battery Operated + Made (C0C0S0L1DC1T1/Skam).
Broken Channel was commissioned by futuresonic.
