‘I’m an English teacher, not fucking Lara Croft!’ Adventure tourism has never gone as badly wrong as in Neil Marshall’s visceral all-female caving thriller The Descent, screening to coincide with the publication of James Marriott’s book of the same name by Auteur Press. Explore the primeval, Freudian fears found in the yawning chasms and dank, dripping tunnels beneath the Appalachian mountains. Enter a subterranean site of savage slaughter and psychosis where civilized behaviour unravels faster than a cut rope in an abseiling contest and a bunch of blind slithering creatures are waiting for lunch…
Launch party for book in foyer at 7pm. Film screens at 8pm.
