Invisible Circus: No Dress Rehearsal. First time director Naomi Smyth filmed the freak family of Bristol's Invisible Circus for 3 years, gradually sliding into their colourful vortex before emerging as a performer. Her fast-moving, emotional film takes you from the Audi garage squat in 2006, through repeated evictions, corporate collaborations and finally to creating CarnyVille for thousands of people at Bridewell Police Station. Against a backdrop of rampant city development and its slide into recession, this confident début investigates and celebrates a community of unpaid artists devoted to creating beauty and silliness out of blood, sweat and tears. Première night with Q&A, live performance and music TBC.
