With Hollowbody & The Fingerless Hoodlum
(Thu 9th / 8pm / £5)
A night of mellow acoustic wonderment, as The Cube welcomes Australian singer Ned Collette back to Bristol; this time with a three piece band in tow, to once again share his distinctive baritone voice and beguiling songwriting.
After touring Europe last year playing shows with Joanna Newsom, Camera Obscura and Akron/Family amongst others, Collette is back this year with a new album: ‘Future Suture' - ever the equal of a début many are already claiming as a classic.
With the melancholic voice of an outsider, incorporating sparse fingerpicking, dreamy string arrangements and an ear for a turn of melody, he has a gift for writing songs which seem to flower into bloom as you listen. A true talent to watch. Let the Cube drop you into the impending autumn as gently as she goes.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to unforseen circumstances The Weary Band are unable to play tonight. Instead we welcome a solo spot from The Fingerless Hoodlum, aka Andi Skellam.
