Roky Erickson is a legendary rock & roll pioneer from Austin, Texas. As singer  and songwriter in the highly acclaimed 13th Floor Elevators, he helped usher  in the psychedelic era starting in 1965. The Elevators’ unique brand of heavy,  electric blues-drenched rock and subsequently, his solo work was on the  cutting edge of what would become known as garage, punk and grunge rock.   Known for his colossal heroine and LSD binges and an ongoing struggle with  mental health problems, Roky has become one of music's legendary tragic  figures. Happily, today we find Roky in the process of being his own miracle  and making an astounding recovery from a two-decade long period of almost  total tragedy and he is now back and beginning to play venues across the  world, appearing at last years Meltdown Festival.  Roky is an acknowledged  influence on such diverse musicians as Robert Plant, Janis Joplin, Patti  Smith, ZZ Top, R.E.M., Henry Rollins & The White Stripes. Among the films that  Roky`s songs have appeared on the soundtracks of are: High Fidelity, Drugstore  Cowboy & Boys Don't Cry. In the auditorium will be documentary footage,  interviews and the music of Roky Erickson and The 13th Floor Elevators. The  Heavy Heads DJ’s will be in the bar playing a selection of heavy blues, garage  punk & psychedelic rock.
