Rodriguez and Tarantino’s double-barrelled homage to classic genre and exploitation films is jam packed
with surreal gore and visceral car chases, a catalogue of film references and allusions that is nothing short
of being a film geek's paradise. However, behind all the swagger and gusto, the film also constitutes a
serious film-essay on the medium that many consider to be dying out: cinema- going itself. The
experience of the grindhouse is particularly rooted in the collective experience of cinema-going,
something threatened by the onset of digital technology and home cinema. We at the Cube obviously
disagree, and consider that tonight Grindhouse is truly coming home!
