With his bizarre atmospheres and seedy characters, Waits' lyrics and music create another world; a smoke-stained world of bar rooms and jailhouses, trains and truck stops - mixed with bourbon, one too many cigarettes and a lifetime of tall-tales. Adamantly refusing to allow his music to be used commercially, he has endlessly defended his work, and preserved the myths contained within.
Simply put, Tom Waits is a living legend - one of the greats.
