            Little Fugitive

Joey is seven and his big brother Lennie is twelve. The mundane neighborhood summertime play takes on another dimension when Lennie and his older friends decide they want to get rid of Joey for a spell. They convince him that something terrible has happened during the course of their play and a frightened Joey flees for the fantasy-world refuge of Coney Island. This is a lost classic that gives a realistic treatment of childhood wonderment and fear. Shot on an extremely low budget, the film's innovative use of hand-held cameras and staccato editing techniques presents an ode to a past world of working class glitter.
