Owen Ashworth from Chicago is Casiotone For The Painfully Alone, and his pseudonym is his trade. After growing disenchanted with the moving image, Ashworth flunked film school and started recording brittle battery-powered torch songs with rickety keyboards and archaic gadgets, three albums' worth of which came out on Tomlab Records (The Books, Patrick Wolf). New album
'Etiquette' displays a fully realised killer synth-pop sound, with new instruments and collaborators to keep Ashworth company.
Tonight he is backed by support band The Dead Science, who themselves perform intuitive somersaults through jazz, pop and rock on Absolutely Kosher Records. Three's company with Bristol's My Two Toms, who played with Owen when they toured the States last year.
