Celebrating the power of artistic exploration and pushing the boundaries of creative expression, Darkroom Festival presents a dynamic selection of experimental, documentary, and video art-based short films - films that are commonly overlooked by many festivals - films unlike any other.
-
Darkroom was originally created as a fringe event for the annual Deptford X festival, providing a space for underground artists and multidisciplinary performances. Over the years, the Darkroom Festival has evolved into a platform that showcases experimental films, live music performances, sound art, and immersive audio-visual experiences, creating a dynamic and transformative festival that challenges conventions, sparks innovation, and engages diverse audiences.
This year's event takes place over three days, in three venues across three cities in the UK - The Ivy House, London (film screening and live A/V event); The Cube Microplex, Bristol (film screening); and The Rose Hill, Brighton (film screening) - with later screenings in Europe. It explores works ranging from personal archive material, analogue film interactions, audiovisual performance, documentary, and sound art, and showcases groundbreaking works by local artists and filmmakers.
