From acclaimed filmmaker Joachim Trier (Louder Than Bombs), Thelma is a supernatural thriller about a young woman who discovers that she has inexplicable and terrifying powers.

Thelma (Eili Harboe) has just left her religious family to study at a university in Oslo. A sudden bout of violent seizures coincides with her growing affections for fellow student Anja (Kaya Wilkins), who reciprocates Thelma's powerful attraction. As it becomes clearer that the seizures are symptoms of mysterious, often dangerous supernatural abilities, Thelma is confronted with train secrets from her past and the terrifying implications of her newfound capabilities.

Praised particularly for its visual style and homages to classic '80s cinema, as well as Harboe's electrifying central performance, Thelma is a powerful drama exploring the dangers of repression.
