The Standup Picture Show:

Live standup + Army of Darkness

Hail to the King, baby.

Dir: Sam Raimi, USA, 1992, 88 mins, Cert: 15

Tickets: £5 advance / £7 doors

Armed with his chainsaw hand, trusty boomstick and plenty of B-movie magic, Ash Williams is transported to the Middle Ages where he must defeat the hordes of Medieval dead and save the world in Sam Raimi's slapstick horror classic.

Raimi's film is a gleeful celebration of cult cinema (spot references to The Day the Earth Stood Still, the original Star Trek TV series, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court and Gulliver's Travels) bringing us a vision of Ray Harryhausen by way of The Three Stooges.

Preceded by live standup comedy from six of the best including:

Bec Hill: Joyously creative standup, writer and Maker of Stuff, Bec's comedy is energetic, very funny and impossible not to like. We're thrilled to welcome her to the Cube. "There's something special about Bec Hill." ★★★★ The Times

Mat Ewins: Preposterous, inventive and unfailingly original, Ewins skewers standup tropes with childlike glee. "Made no attempt to explain where the rest of the cast were, simply claiming they were dead" - ThreeWeeks

Mia Lane: Mia mixes sharply written gags, astute observations and surrealism to great effect. Since last appearing at the Cube in 2014, Mia has reached the final of the South Coast Comedian of the Year, and the semi finals of the prestigious So You Think You're Funny contest.

Tom Clutterbuck: An articulate and very funny man, Tom is a big fan of tonight's film, and the Evil Dead series as a whole. He last graced our stage as one of the Kill Your Darlings literary cabaret crew back in 2014, and we're thrilled to welcome him back.

Klaus: Minimalist.

Angus Dunican: Comedian, actor and writer, Angus is an energetic, charming and very funny stage presence.

We strongly recommend buying your tickets in advance from the Here Shop or Bristol Ticket Shop.
