Set in a foggy and unsettled London with a Jack the Ripper type serial killer on the loose, this was Alfred Hitchcock’s first major commercial and critical success. Based on a story by Marie Belloc Lowndes, the film is a masterpiece of atmospheric thriller filmmaking. It contains many of Hitchcock’s subsequent trademark themes, and also features his first recognisable film cameo.

This Lodger score was written in 2014 and was the first to feature Minima’s expanded instrumental range of double bass, dulcimer, synthesizer, mandolin and autoharp.

Minima are a Bristol-based four-piece group, with instrumentation including cello, double bass, baritone guitar, acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, autoharp, dulcimer, synthesizer, glockenspiel and drum kit. Their music is a 21st-Century interpretation of the images of silent film. Formed in 2006, Minima perform in cinemas and art centres, as well as music and film festivals, playing original live soundtracks to silent films.

Last year’s live score to the classic horror Vampyr was a marvellously creepy experience and we look forward to welcoming them back to score this stone cold killer of a film.
