HFVC invites you to crack open a stubby and fire up the barbie, as we head down under and enjoy some wildly inappropriate humour. No-one drank, fought and swore quite as much as the Aussies in the 1970s.

This month’s main course is Bruce Beresford’s 1976 classic ‘Don’s Party’. Set on the election day in 1969, Don invites his (mostly) left-wing friends over to get merrily drunk, and hopefully celebrate the end of Conservative rule.

As the booze keeps on flowing, the guests start flirting, misbehaving, and (bluntly) offering how they (really) feel about each other. Widening cracks appear in friendships, and relationships start rapidly unfurling with hilarious consequences; secrets from the past are dredged up and everyone seems to be cracking on to someone they shouldn’t… Plays out like a coarser 'Abigail's Party' shot through with a dose of political disappointment that most of the world will be able to relate to today.

Be sure to hang around for a second helping of raucous Antipodeans drinking, gambling, swearing and fighting in the outback. Hellfire DJs will be spinning records in the bar.
