Steal from Work presents HOME VIDEO + Jay le Surgeon + Lazerboy + Dyslogic (Thursday 16th Sept / 8pm / £4)

A new monthly event dedicated to influential scenes and movements, STEAL FROM WORK pays tribute to the music, art and culture of the creative underground. Expect a heady concoction of live music and film, conversation with noted scenesters, and a resident team of musicologists mixing up the sounds that will transport you to another time and place.

To launch this new party what better place to start than the artistic melting pot that is NEW YORK CITY. From Warhol and proto-punks the Velvet Underground through CBGB?s, No-Wave and the advent of Hip-Hop, New York has never been far away from the cutting edge of contemporary culture. While celebrating these past glories there will also be a special live performance by a band who are currently in their ascendancy...

From the same youthful community of hedonistic bohemians that spawned the Rapture, Chk Chk Chk and Interpol, HOME VIDEO are the latest New York act to take the scene by storm. STEAL FROM WORK is proud to host their first UK performance, as they hit our shores to promote a string of releases on Warp Records. Absorbing everything from Primal Scream and New Order to Kraftwerk and Aphex Twin yet shot through with originality, HOME VIDEO's electronically fuelled rock is te sound of a new musical movement.

Also in the auditorium, a vintage block party soundtrack to rare footage of early 80's New York from Bristol’s own Bambaataa, JAY LE SURGEON; and in a regular slot just before the final act, we give a local artist ten minutes to pay tribute to the great city via the medium of audio: this month, DYSLOGIC.
Meanwhile LAZERBOY (Club Neon/Crash!) ties up the loose ends with a special 'I Love NY' DJ set in the bar.
