Local Kid presents BROTHER DANIELSON + Will Johnson
(Mon 13th/8pm/£5)

Firm favourites of Steve Shellac, who produced their latest album, and unlikely heroes from All Tomorrow's Parties, the Danielson Familie have a way of squeezing their way into the hearts of all who watch them. This is a very special opportunity to see BROTHER DANIELSON, head of the Danielson Familie, perform a solo set of his own material.

BROTHER DANIELSON is an earnest and empassioned singer and songwriter, with a unique and searching take on life and insecurity. His live sets are a stripped down affair - that is if you don't happen to notice that Daniel is conducting the show from inside a seven foot tree. This is touching and tender, yet also rickety, fun and punk as hell.

WILL JOHNSON's (Centro-Matic, South San Gabriel) solo songs are simply stunning. Stark vocal melodies cut a swath to Appalachia, ghosts of roadhouse barmen backing up against Flannery O'Connor; these are interwoven throughout piano ballads, acoustic elegies and, occasionally, fully fleshed-out pop songs that carry the seamless, rough emotion of a Southern literary genius.
