Q presents CHRISTINA CARTER + Fursaxa + Rameses III
(Thurs 28th Oct / 8pm / £5)

It’s a triple bill of freak out free folk tonight courtesy of Q…

CHRISTINA CARTER (Kranky/Wholly Other) is founder member of the legendary Charalambides, who formed in Texas back in 1991. Renowned for their unique assimilation of noise, gospel, folk and blues, their name is whispered in the same respectful, hushed tones as local legend Flying Saucer Attack. Ever since then she has been an instrumental force in the American free folk explosion (along with bands like Sunburned Hand of Man and Jackie-O
Motherfucker) collaborating with Paul Flaherty, Thurston Moore and
Loren Connors among others.

FURSAXA is Tara Burke, a farfisa chord organist and singer from Philadelphia. Her otherworldly psychedelic folk comes with firm endorsement from the Acid Mothers Temple collective (for whom she has released) and hearkens back to those other polar queens of disaffected freak out music, Nico and Barbara Manning.
Also, from London come RAMESES III, who combine fluid acoustic guitar patterns with Tibetan bowls and subtle electronic processing – one to watch.

Plus DOZY Soundsystem in the bar.
