BIOSPHERE Summer Garden Party
+ RLF and Flicker
(Fri 30th / 6pm (music from 8pm) / £6)

The Cube reopens specially to welcome BIOSPHERE to Bristol for his only UK gig outside the Big Chill. Widely regarded as one of Norwegian electronic music's most important artists, Biosphere's (Geir Jenssen) career spans nearly two decades. Named after the Biosphere 2 Space Station project, Jenssen has likewise been steadily creating a self-contained aural universe from his base in Tromso, 400 miles north of the Arctic circle. Retreating from the
marketability of his previous incarnations (Bel Canto, Bleep), he has found solace on the Touch label where he has created some of the most enduring music of the ambient movement. Tonight he plays material from the new album AUTOUR DE LA LUNE, combining dialogue from a 60s dramatization of Jules Verne's 'De la Terre a la Lune' with sounds recorded at the MIR space station in a space age homage to rival Eno's APOLLO recordings.

RLF AND THE GODZILLA (special re-edit)
A live electronics and trombone rescoring of cult Japanese film GODZILLA vs.HEDORA. The ultimate monster movie is pitted against the almighty sounds of RLF in a new and extended edit, featuring a truly contemporary bag of low-end pulses, dreamy electronics, modal jazz and heart-melting melodies. The monster comes alive again!

FLICKER
This time the VJ is centre stage. VJ RODELL creates a minimalist video collage using cameras set in mini-sculptural/elemental installations to transform base matter into a light spectacle. Accompanying these poetic textures is a mix of LOVEWIG's trademark micro-beats, clicks and tricks.

Arrive early & join us in the garden for a midsummer garden party complete with BBQ, refreshments and tunes from the FLOAT djs.
