A Tribute To Wesley Willis

-
Fri 3 June 2005 // 20:00

(Fri 3rd June / £2)

A night paying tribute to one of the heroes of music who, despite having existed on the fringes of popular culture, has exerted an important influence on many of our best loved sounds.

Overweight, schizophrenic and writing repetitive songs about bestiality and superheroes, Wesley Willis may not be everyones idea of a musical genius. However, through a prolific catalogue literally dozens of albums, he revealed himself to be the idiot savant of the late 20th century, a wry observer of popular culture, politics and his own mental health. Now no longer with us, we are proud to reveal footage of the man in his prime.
