(Guy Maddin / 2011 / Canada / 94 minutes / B&W / cert TBC)

Cube regulars may have noticed that we are smitten with Guy Maddin. His films mix black humour, fairy tales, surrealism and psycho-sexual themes in a dreamy evocation of early cinema. In his new feature Keyhole, gangster Ulysses Pick (Jason Patric) arrives home after a long absence to a very peculiar house. His gang waits inside, having shot their way past police. There is friction in the ranks. Ulysses' odyssey is a journey through the house, room by room. His quest - to reach his wife Hyacinth (Isabella Rossellini) who is locked in her bedroom upstairs. The strange nooks and crannies reveal more about the mysterious Pick family and suggest that the dead and the living are sharing the same space.
