Papa M is the project of legendary guitarist and multi-instrumentalist David Pajo, former member of post-rock royalty Slint and Tortoise. His collaborations read like a who's who of US alternative rock, from Will Oldham, Royal Trux and Stereolab to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Interpol.
The Liftmen's surf-infused post-punk is an electrifying live experience, alternating riotous motorik rock with serene jazz flourishes. Their second album, Luftwaffe Pond, is out this year on Twisted Nerve.
The Balky Mule is Sam Jones, underground DIY folk experimentalist and a fixture on Bristol's underground scene since his days with seminal acts like Flying Saucer Attack, Crescent and Movietone.
