This classic comedy is considered one of the pioneers of screwball comedy, along with 'The Thin Man'.

Most of the film is a road trip. When Ellie (Claudette Colbert) marries a man her millionaire father considers a fortune hunter he kidnaps her and locks her up on his yacht while he tries to get the marriage annulled. Ellie dives overboard and sets off by bus get back to her husband. Her father institutes a frantic search, but no one thinks to look for the wealthy heiress on the lowly bus. When Ellie loses her bag and money. Peter (Clark Gable) an out of work reporter, comes to her aid.

The two leads have great chemistry and the film has both rapid fire dialogue and physical comedy. It was an unexpected runaway box office hit, and won Columbia five Academy Awards — Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor, and Best Actress.
