(Weds 19th Oct / 8pm / £8 door, £7 advance)

The Cube is very excited to welcome Sam back to our stage after a three year hiatus, we think the Cube is a perfect backdrop for Sam’s special style of folk music. Sam is bringing Chris Vatalaro along to drum with him for this very special performance. Chris has worked with, amongst others, Adem, Elysian Fields and Mark Ronson.

Sam sings, plays banjo and guitar and fiddle, draws comics and makes little video-stories. Sam's song albums have received wide acclaim and his solo performances have taken on a life and tenor of their own. He has collaborated with a myriad of artists including Nico Muhly, Thomas Bartlett, Beth Orton, Shahzad Ismaily, Glen Hansard, and Bill Frisell.

Sam Amidon was born and raised in Brattleboro, Vermont by folk musicians Peter and Mary Alice Amidon. He has released three albums of radically re-worked folksongs: "But This Chicken Proved Falsehearted," recorded at his then-home of Harlem in 2006 with Thomas Bartlett; followed by "All Is Well" in 2008 and "I See The Sign" in 2010, both recorded in Iceland with producer Valgeir Sigur_sson.

Joe Volk is the lead singer and lyricist in the band Crippled Black Phoenix. He is also signed as a solo artist to Invada. Playing live in Bristol, he caught the attention of Adrian Utley (Portishead guitarist / arranger), who offered to record and produce his début album ‘Derwent Waters Saint’. As a solo artist, Volk has played with acts such as Black Heart Procession, DM Stith, Team Brick, Robert Plant, Boris, Massive Attack, Portishead and James Blackshaw.

Bristol based Hollowbody plays acoustic folk psychobilly that is "sandwiched between The Zombies and Leonard Cohen"

DJ Moonshine playing 78’s in the bar.
