Out Of The Mountains Film Festival October 6th - 9th

-
Thu 6 October 2011 // 20:00

(6th - 9th of October 2011)

'Out of the Mountains' is the fourth in a series of ‘Out of...’ seasons, where the focus is exploring cinematic responses to specific environments.

With this season, the Cube offers audiences the opportunity to view a broad range of work, made by filmmakers around the world, whose cinematic inspiration here has been the ultimate draw of the Mountain.

Extreme conditions make a fascinating backdrop for fiction and documentary, and 'Out of the Mountains' will show the breadth of invention and themes that have been generated in locations far from the metropolis, the studio, and sometimes also far from the support system many filmmakers rely on.

The festival will feature rarely screened films including award winning documentaries such Lucy Walker's Blindsight and critically acclaimed features with Guy Maddin's Careful to mention a few, along with a specially commissioned live score to the German Silent Berge film The Holy Mountain (1926) thrown into the mix.

Each film stands up on its own merits and is simply linked through its striking environment, featuring the Mountain both as place and character.

Tickets are £4/£5. Festival pass £20 for whole weekend (excluding special events)
