The Cube proudly welcomes back Calvin Johnson: that well known baritone, shaker of maracas, tummy-hopper, hip-swinger and legendary K records founder/producer from Olympia, Washington.

In a rare visit to the UK Calvin brings his own brand of wandering narrative, unamplified voice and minimal guitar direct to audiences. His stage presence is arresting: deadpan, playful, romantic and confrontational in turn. He is never afraid to embrace the awkward, ask the rhetorical, or disregard the guitar or stage completely in favour of following his heart and feet.

Previously singer/guitarist of awesome primitive/punk/party trio Beat Happening, and bands such as Halo Benders and Dub Narcotic Sound System, Calvin has also produced a host of acts including Beck, Mirah, The Blow, Built to Spill, Make-Up and Little Wings.

Support comes from poptastic trio The Bumblebees playing infectious
kaleidoscopic synth, scratchy hyperactive guitar and tinny smashy drum machine to create catchy songs packed with clever simplicity and innocent goodness. Best described as sweet, hot and addictive, like wasabi.

The Middle Ones sing spookily simpatico hypnotic harmonies, tales of
hand-holding and heartbreak with guitar, accordion and drum thumps.
