Drawing Exchanges With Anna Lucas

-
Sun 26 April 2009 // 18:00

(Sun 26th / 6 - 9 pm / free)

Join artist Anna Lucas in making blind carbon drawings from a unique selection of movie clips that relate to visual perception. We will draw our way through the clips scrawling observations and images.

Anna Lucas is a London based artist filmmaker, who's films in documentary contexts are reaching great acclaim. She makes work that develops observations of social networks and group dynamics in response to specific geographic and architectural locations. In 2008, she was artist in resident at The Oxford University Department of Physiology, Anatomy, and Genetics where she connected blindness, drawing and neuroscience through a series of events called ‘Land of Silence and Darkness’.

The Drawing Exchanges is a nine day celebratory festival dedicated to the process of drawing happening across the city. The drawing exchange is a social drawing programme by Kayle Brandon and Lady Lucy. It creates situations for public drawing, where the amateur and the expert, the drawn and the drawer, the traditional drawing class and a night out down the pub, merge and lose their distinction.
