DOWN WITH THE FENCES! - THE STRUGGLE FOR THE COMMONS

THE NEW ENCLOSURES with speaker: George Caffentzis

George Caffentzis Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern Maine (USA) is a prolific writer on the anti-globalisation movement and anti-capitalist theory. From the 'oil wars' of the late 20th century to recent 'structural adjustment' in Africa he has charted the wave of 'enclosures' associated with neo-liberalism and their relationship to struggles against capital world-wide. In this talk, George Caffentzis will use the current housing crisis in the US as an example of a 'new enclosure' and draw a general picture of the class forces in the US.
