Bristol's finest 'ethnomusicological' talent converges on the Cube for one evening in support of Daniel Pearl World Music Days. The Daniel Pearl Foundation promotes events across the globe every year to celebrate our coming together through the medium of music, and on this platform we bring you a special one-off night that is definitely not to be missed. Described as "an international network of concerts using the power of music to reaffirm our commitment to tolerance and humanity", we are extremely pleased to be able to showcase Bristol's burgeoning World Music scene as part of this event.
As well as these elevated aims, we also bring a potent mix of live sounds that will satisfy even the most viscerally inclined World Music lovers. Afrobeat, Reggae, Bhangra, Zouk, Jazz, Electric Fusion - raw rhythms, intense grooves, local sounds from far away places. Combining the truly ancient with the truly experimental, this offering is a rich musical stew with all the flavours and plenty of punch.

The evening kicks off with a rare screening of two delightful and absorbing short films by documentary film maker Tom Swindell - "Mali", a travelogue of a trip to a rural village in Mali, and "Forged from Dreams", a fascinating portrait of an extremely unusual musician, blacksmith, bronzesmith, and gong-maker, Steve Hubback.

This event is in support of the Bristol Master Percussionists Documentary Project, a film project taking place in December this year that will document oral histories and drumming demonstrations/ performances by some of the most knowledgeable and experienced percussionists in the Bristol area.
