At The Cube Microplex
(Sat 31st Mar / 8pm / £4)

Qu Junktions present a night for starry-eyed dreamers.

Straight for the heart 12 string guitar music from James Blackshaw, one of England’s finest. Spacious, spellbinding and lush. Magic, spirit lifting compositions for the agnostic age. Meditative in its quality, like a twig in a river, this music gracefully moves and spirals into different patterns, motifs and harmonics. Moving and elegiac music from the deft hands of a gifted 23 year old. Open folk tunings, fine ears and an ability to drift into extended emotional pieces puts James Blackshaw alongside Jack Rose, John Renbourn, M Ward and Sandy Bull.

He has released material on labels such as Celebrate Psi Phenomenon, Static, Digitalis Industries, Important Records, and Tompkins Square.

“In the difficult world of solo acoustic music, Blackshaw has shown that he has an original voice that needs to be heard” – Foxy Digitalis

Campfire festival favorites and well traveled troubadours, from Devon come TSOT. Warm songs, hearty voices with bottleneck and slide guitar. Trance out with their English folk, Indian Classical, Celtic and singer songwriter sounds. For fans of Gillian Welch, Davey Graham, Steve Reich, Sonny Terry, or Son House.
Much delight in announcing that Thoughforms’s very own Charlie Romijn will be playing as SSOK. She follows in that great thread of West Country or Finnish music, making a kind of holy, rural psychedelic sound that has traces of 21st decaying beauty..like Third Eye Foundation, Foehn and even Paavoharju. Magnetic music you want to get stuck to.
