Harold is a depressed, death-obsessed 20-year-old who spends his spare time attending funerals and failing to commit suicide in front of his mother. At the funeral of a perfect stranger, Harold befriends Maude, a 79-year-old woman with a zest for life. From here on in things get even more perfectly stranger and stranger.
