Jason Molina will warm the room with that famous quiver and croon. On a very brief UK tour, the man known as Songs: Ohia, and Magnolia Electric Co visits the Microplex. His music ranges from sombre and raw folk-blues to thickly lavish country rock (Crazy Horse style) and under the skin acoustic songs that sweat with atmosphere. Exploring the big, lonesome themes of life and intricately personal reflections, he has collaborated with Will Oldham, My Morning Jacket, Scout Niblet and Alasdair Roberts.

Making this night even more special Okkyung Lee arrives to play her cello with a drummer. New York based but a native of Korea, Okkyung Lee incorporates jazz sounds, Korean traditional music and blessed noise with odd techniques that all gloriously bleed into each other. A performer with no barriers she has played and recorded with Carla Bozulich, Nels Cline, Sylvie Courvoisier, Shelley Hirsch, Larry Ochs, Beth Orton, Zeena Parkins and Mike Ladd. This is warm-hued instrumental music of a cinematic kind.
