World Cup Experimental Football Day

-
Sun 11 June 2006 // 12:00

organised by Easton Cowboys
(Sun 11th / 12 midday / meet on the Downs by the Water Tower)

Football - it's a game of two halves, 11 men against 11. Wrong! Let's try a hexagonal pitch, 3 halves, 3 teams and perhaps 2 balls where you score the most goals and lose. Or sample the original 1863 rules where handballs are allowed but forward passes aren't. An opportunity to have a bit of fun messing with the rules of the beautiful game.

The Easton Cowboys and Cowgirls are a community based sports and social club. Formed in 1992, they have expanded to the point where they now comprise four men's football teams, a women's team, two cricket sides, a netball and basketball team, plus a small army of supporters and friends. A forward thinking, internationally minded bunch, football has taken the club far and wide - to Mexico, Morocco and all over Europe. In between, they have also found time to put on tournaments of their own, including "alternative" World Cups in 1998 and 2001.
