It's 1978. Justine (Brie Larson) has arranged the sale of a van-load of guns between two crews: one led by Sharlto Copley's chaotic arms dealer Vernon and an IRA faction led by Chris (Cillian Murphy) and Frank (Michael Smiley). All that remains is for the two sides to meet to complete the handover, in an abandoned Boston dockyard warehouse in the middle of the night...

With tempers running high and both factions seemingly riven by internal squabbling it's a matter of when, not if the first shot will be fired. And once they start it'll be some time before they stop.

The latest film by Ben Wheatley and Amy Jump, Free Fire is a wickedly funny 90 minute genre flick that reframes a 1970s shootout movie a world away from the usual one-shot kills and tightly wound action. In this warehouse, on this night, chaos reigns. It's also the pair's most accessible film to date, striking a much lighter tone than much of their previous work. Even if a screening is sold out, tickets are often available 30 minutes before the start of the film at the box office
