A fascinating portrait of one of Hollywood’s most consistently daring provocateurs. Brian De Palma is nothing if not divisive.

Brian De Palma’s career started in the arthouse, experimental 1960s and has included such acclaimed and diverse films as Carrie, Scarface, The Untouchables and Mission: Impossible. For every admirer of his baroque visual style, you have a naysayer labelling him a Hitchcock imitator.

While everyone may have an opinion, Noah Baumbach and Jake Paltrow simply let the man speak for himself. Comprised solely of one long interview (interspersed with film clips), De Palma talks chronologically through his career, reflecting on everything from the creative highs to the commercial lows with disarming candour and articulacy.
