Alice Klieg (Kristen Wiig) suffers from borderline personality disorder, and finds grounding in her daily routine, which includes memorizing every episode of Oprah and carefully monitoring her wardrobe and protein-laden diet. But when her numbers come up in the state lottery and she suddenly finds herself in possession of eighty million dollars' worth of possibilities, she begins to think bigger: eschewing her medication and therapy, she moves into a casino, buys a stretch of hours at a local television station, and launches her own talk show about (what else?) herself. As her show gains an audience, Alice realizes that viewers identify with her re-enactments of past hurts and social slights; but what she doesn't recognize is that her own hunger for fame may just reflect a deeper need to be heard.

Handed her best role since Bridesmaids, Wiig ensures that Alice’s bizarre behaviour is surprisingly plausible. Her unhinged performance is abetted by stellar supporting turns from Linda Cardellini as her dutiful best friend, Tim Robbins as her put-upon shrink and James Marsden and Wes Bentley as wannabe infomercial tycoons who are roped into producing Alice’s show. Having no concept of what they’ve signed on for, they’re soon caught up in her manic thrall.

"A startlingly inspired comedy … Wiig tears into her role with bipolar brilliance" (Variety).

"Welcome to Me deserves as much attention as possible, for its funny, frank and a little bit heartbreaking - a package of emotions delivered with skill." ★★★★ Cine Vue
