Prepare to meet Evil Blizzard: a psychedelic behemoth from Preston comprising four bass players and a drummer. They blew everyone away at last year's Supernormal Festival… now, for their Bristol début, they'll be rescoring the 1922 classic Häxan: Witchcraft through the Ages, a Swedish/Danish silent horror film written and directed by Benjamin Christensen. EB first performed this last year for They Eat Culture in Preston, and we're psyched that they're bringing it to the Cube.

What do they sound like? Well, think what would happen if Hawkwind mated with Public Image Ltd, then locked their unholy offspring under the stairs with doll heads, those multiple bass guitars and theremins; you are nearly there!
But it doesn't end there, as we are screening a classic piece of early cinema. Häxan is based partly on Christensen's study of the Malleus Maleficarum, a 15th-century German guide for inquisitors. It is a study of how superstition and the misunderstanding of diseases and mental illness could lead to the hysteria of the witch hunts. The film was made as a documentary, but contains dramatised sequences that are comparable to horror films.

After EB finish reworking that beast, they will unleash their greatest hits culled from the début album The Dangers Of Evil Blizzard, out last year on Louder Than War Records.

Support tonight comes from Liverpool in the shape of Super Fast Girlie Show (try Motörhead having it off with Big Black for a flavour of what to expect), and there'll be DJs till late. You won't want to miss this one!
