Making heavy use of a vast Gothic pipe organ and knitting together elements of folk, black metal, pop and soundtrack themes, the experience of listening to Anna von Hausswolff's intense second album Ceremony has been likened to "being hit by a huge ocean wave, coming to shore and pulling you against the ancient mountain cliff".

The artist herself has cited Liz Fraser, Jefferson Airplane, PJ Harvey, Earth, Barn Owl, Nick Cave and Diamanda Galás as key influences, while the press in her native Sweden have repeatedly drawn (some say lazy) comparisons with Kate Bush.
Finally given a full European release on City Slang in June, Ceremony had already been hailed as part of Drowned in Sound's 'Lost 12 of 2012' albums, which described von Hausswolff's voice as "one I will remember until my grave is waist-deep in meadow grass" and strongly recommended that her music be enjoyed at high volume.

With that in mind, we're thrilled to be welcoming Anna von Hausswolff and her band to the Cube as one of only two intimate UK dates on her autumn tour: her immersive, stately sound and the red-velvet embrace of our auditorium promises to be a memorable combination.

**UPDATE** Support on the night will come from Bristol's Fat Paul, delivering a laptop set of sinister ambient drones under his Blakk Metal alias.
