Reel Iraq - A Celebration of Culture

Marking 10 years since the military invasion of Iraq, Reel Iraq 2013 aims to shine a light on the conflict exploring the contribution of art, culture and creativity to Iraqi life.

In Bristol, The Cube will host an eclectic mix of film, music, poetry and performance creating a unique event encouraging debate and discussion of what has, and hasn’t, happened over the last decade.

Highlights include:
Screenings of Dreams of Sparrows a powerful film documenting the lives of ordinary Iraqis after the fall of Saddam by Haydar Daffar and Return to Kirkuk exploration of the spiritual capital of Iraqi-controlled Kurdistan, one of the riches oil cities in the world by Karzan Sherabayani, followed by a live discussion between the filmakers; My Dad the Iraqi by Suzie Zara, A Fire Blazing Brightly by award winning playwright, Hassan Abdulrazzak, Iraqi Kawleeya Dance from Fiora Touliatou, poems For & from Iraq, live music from contemporary Iraqi artists City of Salt and Leila Albayaty plus food, drink, conversation and you..
